Advancing the rights of working families.

Long Beach, California

In November 2012, voters in Long Beach, California passed a law by 64% that guarantees a living wage and paid sick time to many hotel workers in the city.  Under this law, hotels with at least 100 rooms are required to allow workers to earn a minimum of 5 paid sick days a year and pay workers a minimum of $13 an hour (with adjustments for increases in the cost of living or federal minimum wage).
